By both reducing your calorie intake a little (for the most people around 500 calories fewer a day is good average to aim for) and increasing your energy output (activity) on a regular basis.
There is probably no such thing as an absolute best for the way either to reduce calories or to exercise – both will vary according to your tastes, weight , means, health – and many other factors. The answers for you, personally, should become more apparent if you read through more articles on weight loss.
In general terms, however, it seems that the most successful long term weight-loss programmes involve reduction in total fat and simple carbohydrate intake, thus reducing total calorie intake, and eating regular meals containing plenty of fruit and veg at a slow speed. Hey, I was about 45 pounds overweight, then I got type 2 diabetes, pretty much got my act together overnight, after that.....NO MORE SUGAR, seriously, this works like a charm. cut out sugar and high and medium glycemic foods. Im sure we’ve heard it a thosand times but the weight will fall off within months, even without additional exercise.
Just have patience.
All the best. Dave

I hear you Dave. Lifestyle is partly responsible for type 2 diabetes. Obesity is a major cause. Those who are fit and do routine moderate exercise are less like to debelop type 2, at least can deter for some time.
