If you are susceptible to water retention, the best solution is simply to avoid the heat. But you can’t stay inside with air-condition turned up high all summer. Fortunately, there are some plants that can help you before you venture outside. Three to four weeks before high summer or the start of your holidays, take mouse-ear hawkweed or Java tea in capsule or liquid-extract form.
This takes its name from its humid place of origin, and it has particularly good diuretic qualities. It immediately increases the volume of urine and help remove fluid from the tissues, as well as many toxins. The swelling diminishes, you look thinner and you feel much lighter. ordinarily, when taken in conventional doses, Java tea is quite safe, but you should avoid it if you have heart or kidney disease, and you should always drink plenty of water when you take it.
Mouse-ear hawkweed is a gentle diuretic than Java tea. Drink it in a herbal tea. Put 50g (2 oz)of the plant in 2 litre (2 pints)of boiling water and infuse for 10 minutes. Then drink this litre of liquid over the course of the day.
